"Mochi 0002"

Some people are just naturally curious; when something catches their attention there is an instinctual urge to explore and understand it. This concept makes me think of two things; our Mochi clocks and their namesake. We find the carved and charred finishes of our Mochi pieces create a completely unique and unusual look and texture; one that invokes this curious natural drive to understand what it is. We hope that they invoke this same curiosity and quest for understanding in you, and that they can provide you with the same amusement and awe that their namesake, and her parents, does and do for us.This shou sugi ban wood clock is burned to a char, and finished with several layers of a semi-gloss protective coating to preserve the charred appearance. Prior to burning, divots are carved out of the entire face giving the piece a wavy rippled appearance. This piece features gold colored serpentine hands with a non-ticking gold second hand.
