"Novos 0002"

Although we may like to believe that we know the difference between right and wrong, the concept of right and wrong, or good and bad, can be confusing. Attempting to label and categorize things in accordance with a concept that does not exist outside of our individual and collective minds can propagate and sustain ideas, beliefs, and philosophies.
Sometimes you come across someone or something that calls attention to “normal” behaviors and conventions that deserve in depth evaluation. Our Novos pieces are named after someone whom embodies the check engine light of society's motor. This great thinker, philosopher, and musical artist is greatly responsible for the development and even more for the refinement of so many ideas, attitudes, and ideals that I have held, questioned, and upheld throughout my life. The noise of his meteor shower attracted my attention, but his message captured it, and left behind a colorful surface covered in impact craters.
There are sounds all around us competing for our attention. Some we find pleasing, and some we find annoying. Some may even anger us. If we like the music, cool… Rock on. If we don’t like it, hopefully, hearing it will at least make us think about why we don’t. Concepts that exist solely in our minds, like right and wrong, do not need to be accepted or rejected, but evaluated and reevaluated so that we can continue to hone in on the non-existent vanishing point in spacetime that we call “Truth”. We hope that our Novos pieces remind you to question whether our individual and collective ideals are based in the love of a happy and healthy society, or in the fear of our own feelings.
Inspired by crater covered planet surfaces, this textured wood wall clock is power carved creating a cratered and rippled surface and stylistically dyed and painted in shades of red and and yellow with a glossy protective coating. This piece features a pillow shaped face and silver spade hands.
