Our Mato clocks are named after an important family member that I never had the chance to meet. However, the slim, strong, intriguing, and minimalistic look of these pieces remind me of the stories that I’ve heard about him. We hope that our Mato pieces can project these fundamental qualities the same way that their namesake has done for so many people and also for me, albeit in a secondhand way.

This shou sugi ban wood clock is meant to represent the colors of a tiger and is stylistically dyed orange in some areas blending with the black of the charred hard grain, and tan of the raw wood with a glossy protective coating. This piece features black barbed leaf hands with a non-ticking black second hand.
