Like our Mato clocks, our Matej pieces are named after an important family member that I never had the chance to meet. However, the slim, strong, intriguing, and minimalistic look of these pieces remind me of the stories that I’ve heard about him. We hope that our Matej pieces can project these fundamental qualities the same way that their namesake has done for so many people and also for me, albeit in a secondhand way.

This shou sugi ban wood clock is power carved to introduce an additional depth that accentuates the already textured shou sugi ban wood grain. It is dyed in a swirling psychedelic color palette including golden yellows, pinks, oranges, and blues, and finished with a glossy protective finish. It features gold colored serpentine hands and can be hung in four different orientations.
