Name: Brando 0001

We all have hopes and ideas. Too often we have a difficult time accepting when outcomes don’t live up to our expectations. This disillusionment can blind us to the fact that the outcome may actually be something more amazing than what we imagined. Our Brando clocks are some of our favorites pieces as they have existed as an idea with us for a long time. They get their name from one of our space loving family members. Their namesake’s interest in space and love for alien movies completely aligns with our own, despite our tastes having slightly unusual orbits. Like the pieces that bear his name, his presence in our life has existed as an idea long before we met him, and like our Brando pieces, the realization of the idea was even greater than we could have imagined. We hope that our Brando pieces serve as a constant reminder to shoot for the moon, and not be disappointed with the result what ever it may be. Whether it’s more than you expected like making it to Mars instead, or less than you hoped for, like ‘only’ ending up with LASIK technology or wireless headsets here on Earth.

Inspired by the lunar surface, this textured wood wall clock is power carved creating a cratered and rippled surface, and then finished in shades of gray with a satin protective coating. This piece features a pillow shaped face and sliver spade hands with a non-ticking red second hand.

Due to the nature of the piece the measurements may vary slightly

Finish: Carved with craters and ripples and finished in shades of gray with a satin protective coating

Name: Grand Johnny 0001

Our Johnny clocks get their name from an uncle that I never got the chance to meet. Based on the stories I’ve heard, he lived a life that was wild, inspirational, and generally pretty crazy. Although it’s pretty common for these kinds of stories to be exaggerated, many different witnesses have pretty convincingly corroborated those about my uncle, and a few of the stories have even been documented in newspapers and books. I’m not one to bore people by telling them about my dreams, but basically, I had a dream one night that my uncle wanted me to make a white clock, so I did and named it after him.

Name: Lyss 0001

As a musician and songwriter, I learned early on that what you play doesn’t really matter as much as what you don’t play. The beauty of music lies not in the notes, but in the spaces between the notes. Approaching song writing from the perspective of a painter, starting with a blank canvas and adding to it until you achieve the results that you desire, is usually not as effective as approaching it from the perspective of a sculptor; intentionally removing the noise and propagating the voids to eventually create the rhythms and melodies that we find so enjoyable. Life can be seen in the same manner; losses or voids in life do not need to be viewed as negative experiences. Losses shape us just as much as accumulations and although it can be difficult, appreciating these loses for the rhythms and melodies that they create in our lives can open you up to see the beauty in the emptiness, in the spaces in-between.
Our Lyss sculptures are created by loss. They are full of voids and have just as much emptiness as substance. They get their name from someone whom lives this concept by example. Someone who lives life with so much insight, appreciation, and intention, that she has become an integral part in feeding our inspiration and degrading our insecurities.
We hope that our Lyss pieces remind you that there is beauty in emptiness. That in learning to let go, accept, and even appreciate our losses, we can open ourselves to new experiences and insights that we may have never imagined. Embracing the voids in our experiences can open us up to life, and living with intention… it can show us how to live more and regret less.

From the blue skies to the white snowcapped mountains, from the golden sunshine to the red rock (not to mention all of the family we have there); we both love Colorado. Our Margaret pieces get their name from a famous philanthropist and former Denver resident; you may be more familiar with her nickname ‘Molly’. We find her promotion of women’s and worker’s rights, education, and historic preservation inspiring and hope that our Margaret pieces remind you to appreciate the beauty of the wilderness, and not forget that it shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Some people are just naturally curious; when something catches their attention there is an instinctual urge to explore and understand it. This concept makes me think of two things; our Mochi clocks and their namesake. We find the carved and charred finishes of our Mochi pieces create a completely unique and unusual look and texture; one that invokes this curious natural drive to understand what it is. We hope that they invoke this same curiosity and quest for understanding in you, and that they can provide you with the same amusement and awe that their namesake, and her parents, does and do for us.

Although we may like to believe that we know the difference between right and wrong, the concept of right and wrong, or good and bad, can be confusing. Attempting to label and categorize things in accordance with a concept that does not exist outside of our individual and collective minds can propagate and sustain ideas, beliefs, and philosophies.
Sometimes you come across someone or something that calls attention to “normal” behaviors and conventions that deserve in depth evaluation. Our Novos pieces are named after someone whom embodies the check engine light of society's motor. This great thinker, philosopher, and musical artist is greatly responsible for the development and even more for the refinement of so many ideas, attitudes, and ideals that I have held, questioned, and upheld throughout my life. The noise of his meteor shower attracted my attention, but his message captured it, and left behind a colorful surface covered in impact craters.
There are sounds all around us competing for our attention. Some we find pleasing, and some we find annoying. Some may even anger us. If we like the music, cool… Rock on. If we don’t like it, hopefully, hearing it will at least make us think about why we don’t. Concepts that exist solely in our minds, like right and wrong, do not need to be accepted or rejected, but evaluated and reevaluated so that we can continue to hone in on the non-existent vanishing point in spacetime that we call “Truth”. We hope that our Novos pieces remind you to question whether our individual and collective ideals are based in the love of a happy and healthy society, or in the fear of our own feelings.

People (us included) spend a lot of time trying to connect with Nature. Our current society places so much emphasis on connecting with Nature, that it can be easy to forget what Nature really is. It can be easy to overlook the fact that Nature isn't simply a thing that we have to physically exert ourselves to connect with. It’s not something that simply surrounds us nor something that is only found in the places we consider to be beautiful. The simple truth that is so easy to overlook is that we are all Nature, and Nature is all of us. We hope that our Our Organic Spaceship pieces remind you that you don’t need to go on a hike or drive to the middle of nowhere in order to connect with Nature, because you are Nature and Nature is you. And that if we think of Nature in this way, taking actions like saving the bees and hugging trees aren't saving and protecting the planet; they’re saving and protecting ourselves.

This shou sugi ban wood clock is power carved to introduce an additional depth that accentuates the already textured shou sugi ban wood grain. It is dyed in a swirling blend of the colors of the Earth as viewed from space including blue, white, and shades of greens and browns, and finished with a glossy protective finish. The concept of reincarnation is something that has been and continues to be strongly debated, but I believe it is undoubtable that rebirth is a constant process that occurs at every moment. Every time we learn something new, look at something from a different perspective, or live through a new experience, the concept of our ‘self’ changes. Sometimes this rebirth can completely change the person that we thought we were, especially if we loosen the grip of our ego and welcome the change. Occasionally we create a piece that we have a clear idea of, but more often than not our ideas change throughout the creation process. Most of our pieces are named after they have been completed, but they always have a working title while we are making them. Our Stanley pieces get their name from the middle name of an important family member. We chose to use his middle name since our first names are often the most defining characteristic of what we consider to be ‘us’. We are typically vague regarding our inspirations, preferring to let you, the beholder, make your own judgements; however, we wanted to share that our Stanley pieces are meant to represent one of these moments of rebirth and dissolution of the ego. We hope that, whether or not you see our intention, our Stanley pieces remind you to embrace the changes that your experiences inflict, and that there is no such thing as an unchanging, permanent self.

Our Tim pieces are named after our version of that cool uncle that everyone has or wants to have. The kind who knows just about everything, but is in no manner a ‘know it all’. Sipping good liquor can evoke some pretty deep conversations and emotions, and those deep liquor fueled conversations are the inspiration behind our Tim pieces.

I like to think of our Tim pieces as being whiskey or anejo, but I am a pretty firm believer that the interpretation of art is in the eye of the beholder. Whether you see our Tim pieces as whiskey or anejo, (or scotch, or rum, or plum brandy, or even apple juice…), they are meant to represent whatever brings you joy, knowledge, and a general appreciation for life.

This sloshing pendulum drink piece features a rocks glass shaped cutout in the face of the piece that exposes a partially hidden swinging pendulum, giving the appearance of a golden liquor sloshing back and forth in a glass. This piece has an ebony color satin finish on a pillow shaped face that gradually fades to squared edges.

This piece has an ebony color satin finish with squared edges.

The red wine loving namesake of this piece is a family member named Traci. Whether it’s a cab sav, pinot, or gamay; red wine can bring people together, lubricate conversations, and open understanding. You can also have a lot of fun with it… All four of those things can also be attributed to the namesake of our Traci pieces. We hope that our Traci pieces can convey these characteristics and provide a little bit of each of them into your lives the way that the real Traci does into the lives of her family and friends.

From the blue skies to the white snowcapped mountains, from the golden sunshine to the red rock (not to mention all of the family we have there); we both love Colorado.

Our Tobin pieces get their name from a famous philanthropist and former Denver resident; you may be more familiar with her married name ‘Brown’. We find her promotion of women’s and worker’s rights, education, and historic preservation inspiring and hope that our Tobin pieces remind you to appreciate the beauty of the wilderness, and not forget that it shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Every once in a while someone explains a thought or concept that you thought you had a pretty good grasp on, and they do it in such a way that you realize you never were even close to understanding it before. Although there are plenty of deep thinkers out there, very few  are able to think deeply as fluently and potently as our Trussell piece’s namesake. Even fewer are able to articulate these thoughts and concepts as eloquently as this piece’s namesake is able to do. We hope that our Trussell pieces inspire you not just to think, but to search for understanding. We hope that looking at our Trussell pieces makes you realize that you’re not really looking at art, but rather an idea that’s been plucked from the collective consciousness made up of a collection of atoms forming a collection of molecules that are suspended by a smaller atom collection that’s been hammered into the atom collection we’ve all decided to call a wall. And at the very least, we hope that they serve as a constant reminder that time is only a human construct and doesn’t actually exist.

This shou sugi ban wood clock is power carved to introduce an additional depth that accentuates the already textured shou sugi ban wood grain. It is dyed in a swirling psychedelic color palette including golden yellows, pinks, oranges, blues, and purples, and finished with a glossy protective finish. It features black and lime green colored leaf hands that glow in the dark with a non-ticking red second hand.

Name: Watts 0001

Our Watts pieces were inspired by the story of the Golden Buddha; a story that would not have had such a strong impact had it not been for the conceptual teachings and understandings of their namesake. Throughout our lives we are conditioned based off of our experiences and sensations of those experiences. Without delving into the philosophical consideration of what is good and what is bad, it can seem that our conditioning can either be from a positive or negative experience with either positive or negative impacts on our overall life experience. Whether we as individuals view these events and emotions as good or bad to our idea of ourselves, our Watts pieces are meant to reflect the conditioning, the experience, and the sensation that we are all subjectively splattered with throughout our lives. We hope that our Watts pieces invoke the consideration that this societal splatter can be viewed as a chaotic burden, but can also be seen as an opportunity for spiritual growth. Letting go is not some action that we take, but rather a lack of action; for you do not need to let go, you simply need to stop holding on.

This textured wood wall clock is uniquely carved to provide the illusion of melting or degrading.  The top portion of the piece is stained white and covered with expressive black paint splatter and the bottom portion is burned to a char. The entire piece is finished with a satin protective coating and features red sword hands with a non-ticking red second hand.
