Name: Sam 0002

Our Sam Clocks were the first to be named and the genesis of the way that we name our pieces. Named after one of our good friends and an all around great person, Sam expressed that this clock was her favorite when we first started out. Danielle has a difficult time keeping track of the actual names of all of the different finishes that we like to use, so I starting referring to this as the ‘Sam’ finish. Not only did the name stick, but it also inspired us to name all of our pieces after the people, places, and things that hold a significant meaning and serve as an inspiration to us.

This piece has a horizontal strip layout on the clock face with a contrasting vertical strip layout on the face of the pendulum. The split wood is finished in a golden brown color with a satin protective coating. This piece features black serpentine clock hands.

Name: Johnny 0002

Our Johnny clocks get their name from an uncle that I never got the chance to meet. Based on the stories I’ve heard, he lived a life that was wild, inspirational, and generally pretty crazy. Although it’s pretty common for these kinds of stories to be exaggerated, many different witnesses have pretty convincingly corroborated those about my uncle, and a few of the stories have even been documented in newspapers and books. I’m not one to bore people by telling them about my dreams, but basically, I had a dream one night that my uncle wanted me to make a white clock, so I did and named it after him.

This split wood pendulum clock features a cutout in the face of the piece that exposes a partially hidden swinging pendulum. This piece has a horizontal strip layout on the clock face with a contrasting vertical strip layout on the face of the pendulum. The split wood is painted white and finished with a satin protective coating. This piece features black baton clock hands that provide a strong contrast against the white face of the piece.

Name: Johnny Pewter 0001

Our Johnny clocks get their name from an uncle that I never got the chance to meet. Based on the stories I’ve heard, he lived a life that was wild, inspirational, and generally pretty crazy. Although it’s pretty common for these kinds of stories to be exaggerated, many different witnesses have pretty convincingly corroborated those about my uncle, and a few of the stories have even been documented in newspapers and books. I’m not one to bore people by telling them about my dreams, but basically, I had a dream one night that my uncle wanted me to make a white clock, so I did and named it after him.  The ‘Pewter’ suffix is much more literal as these pieces feature small pewter colored strips of split wood interspersed with the white, and I just thought that ‘Johnny Pewter’ sounded kinda cool; like an old west gunfighter or something.

This split wood pendulum clock features a cutout in the face of the piece that exposes a partially hidden swinging pendulum. This piece has a horizontal strip layout on the clock face with a contrasting vertical strip layout on the face of the pendulum. Name: Amoukar 0001

Fire is pretty amazing. It can keep us warm and cozy when there is a chill in the air, it can cook us delicious meals, and it can fill our homes with relaxing scents when we light a candle after a long day. Fire is so readily available in the modern world; it’s easy to take it for granted. The Amoukar clocks were inspired by the history of humanity’s use of this once magical element. Although we definitely don’t condone all of the namesake’s behavior, I find inspiration in the hope, and education of the ignorant that it represents as necessary for the advancement of civilization.

Name: Sipe 0001

I’m not much of a football fan. I’m not much of a sports fan in general, but I can definitely appreciate the way that sports can bring a variety of people from different backgrounds together.

With tones varying from light sandy colors, to golden browns, and black coffee colors, the Sipe clocks are full of browns. I chose the name ‘Sipe’ for these clocks because they are meant to honor the drive to succeed and the optimism of supporting people whom refuse to give up hope, even if they’re in the midst a near decade long drought.

Name: Tony 0003

Beer has aided in the founding of countries and civilizations. It’s encouraged social bonding and even been used as currency. Researching the role that beer has played throughout history, its importance is obvious. That’s pretty much the same way I feel about the beer loving namesake of this piece is a family member named Tony. Like beer in human civilization, Tony has played an important role in my development. He’s inspired creations and changes, and helped provide insight I would have otherwise overlooked. He’s lowered my inhibitions and influenced my behavior. Whether you see your favorite lager, IPA, pilsner, or any other golden beer that you may like in our Tony pieces, they are meant to reflect and honor these inspirations, insights, and influences.

Name: Tim 0002

Our Tim pieces are named after our version of that cool uncle that everyone has or wants to have. The kind who knows just about everything, but is in no manner a ‘know it all’. Sipping good liquor can evoke some pretty deep conversations and emotions, and those deep liquor fueled conversations are the inspiration behind our Tim pieces.

I like to think of our Tim pieces as being whiskey or anejo, but I am a pretty firm believer that the interpretation of art is in the eye of the beholder. Whether you see our Tim pieces as whiskey or anejo, (or scotch, or rum, or plum brandy, or even apple juice…), they are meant to represent whatever brings you joy, knowledge, and a general appreciation for life.
