Name: Aberdeen 0001

It’s pretty easy to find inspiration in great people or majestic places, but it can be challenging to overlook the flaws of the people you don’t like and still appreciate their message, or to hear the beauty in the lyrics and melodies of the music that most people would consider noise. It can be difficult to realize that the sun shines down on us everyday, even if we can’t tell because the skies are covered in gray clouds. The gray color of our Aberdeen clocks remind me of these lessons that I’ve learned from two former residents of this pieces namesake. We hope that our Aberdeen pieces can remind you to look for the positives in the negatives because not much in life is simply black and white. Most of it is a mixture of both, and a name for this mixture is gray… or grey; depending on where you live.

Our Adora clocks are named after some of my childhood nostalgia and my first celebrity crush. Just as our Swift Wind pieces remind me of the ideals of equality and freedom for all; our Adora pieces take this one step further and remind me that sometimes you need to rebel in the face of the injustices of the Hordes. They inspire me to break the narrative that people need stronger people to save them. They remind me that everyone can channel their inner warriors, and not only save themselves, but with a little light hope, can save everyone else at the same time. We hope that our Adora pieces provide you with an energy blast of inspiration, motivation, and awe, just as their namesake has done for us.

This shou sugi ban wood pendulum clock is burned to a char, and finished with several layers of a semi-gloss protective coating to preserve the charred appearance. Prior to burning, divots are carved out of the entire face giving the piece a wavy rippled appearance. This piece features gold colored serpentine hands with a non-ticking gold colored second hand.

Name: Dani 0002

Our Dani clocks are bright and radiant. Psychological studies of the color yellow have shown that it not only promotes happiness and optimism, but also promotes analytical thinking. All of these traits are qualities of their yellow loving (nick)namesake. We hope to capture these enthralling characteristics in our Dani pieces, and that they provide you with the same excitement and happiness that their namesake does for us.

Name: Dorothy 0001

There’s something about our Dorothy clocks that I just find warm and inviting. They’re natural and don’t have as many frills as some of our other pieces.  All of these things remind me of our Dorothy pieces namesake, a close family member. In addition to the characteristics I’ve already listed, this pieces namesake was also someone who was friendly and just fun to be around. That type of person you can be comfortable with right when you meet them. We hope that our Dorothy pieces reflect this natural, no frills; all warmth and comfort, and we hope that they can bring some enjoyment to your life, just like their namesake has done for us.

Name: Douglas 0001

Our Douglas clocks were inspired by the clean lines and contrasting colors of a vintage runabout boat. They get their name from a vintage boat owner, and probably the most nostalgic person that I know,  one of our close family members. Although being nostalgic is often seen as being stuck in the past, I believe that remembering, understanding, and connecting with the past can help us envision a hopeful future and to appreciate the people and places that fill our lives in the present. We hope that our Douglas pieces can provide some of this optimism into your lives, just as their namesake has done for us.

This cut wood pendulum clock has a vertical strip layout on the clock face with a contrasting horizontal strip layout on the face of the pendulum. Name: Dude 0001

Our Dude clocks are one of our personal favorites, but I guess that is just, like, our opinion. We hope that our Dude pieces can remind you to relax a little and take the strikes along with the gutters. We hope that they can provide you with enlightenment and a deeper understanding of life; or, at a very minimum, we hope that they can at least help you tie a room together. 

This cut wood pendulum clock has a vertical strip layout on the clock face. Some of the cut wood is dyed golden yellow, some is stained brown, and the rest is stained a light golden brown. Inspired by a vintage bowling shirt and bowling lane, the pieces are arranged in a striped pattern,  and finished with a glossy protective coating. There’s something about seeing an old barn in the middle of an open field that intrigues me. I’m know I’m not alone because I’ve seen tons of paintings of this scene. Maybe it’s because they make us wonder what events they have hosted, or what storms and droughts they have endured. Maybe they remind us of people. Our Ernie clocks are named after a family member who just happens to like old barns; actually, I remember him pointing them out to me as we’d pass one on the road and noting how cool it looked. We hope that our Ernie pieces provide you the same intrigue that an old barn and their namesake does for me, and we hope that they’ll provide you with some fun conversation during the events that you host, and some comfort during the storms and droughts that you go through.

Name: Georgie 0001

Although we like to use colors in a lot of our pieces, we try to use them in a way that accentuates the materials that we use. Every once in a while we come across a material so unique and alluring in its raw state, that we feel adding to it would only take away from these characteristics. Our Georgie pieces are named after a family member whose love of nature and understanding of the importance of resource preservation are pretty inspiring; or, at a minimum, pretty far ahead of the curve. I mean, he and his wife built a solar home in the 70s… We hope that our Georgie pieces remind you that beautiful art is all around you in the phenomena that is the physical world, and that as inhabitants of this world, it’s everyones option to appreciate it, and everyones challenge to respect it.

Though strategic layout and cuts, the fragmented pieces of varying shades and sizes come together to form something cohesive and full of depth in our Jackson clocks. A lot of time and work goes into our pieces, but we think that the results are worth it. The concept of putting in the time and work to obtain the results you want reminds us of our Jackson pieces (middle)namesake, a close family member. We hope that our Jackson pieces capture these characteristics and remind you that, it doesn’t have to be the fragmented experiences of life that shape us; we can choose to strategically arrange those fragments into whatever shape we want.

We both love to travel and discover people, places, and things that inspire us. We are especially fond of the quirky little ghost towns of the western United States. Although many people and places embrace the importance of preserving history for the sake of understanding and learning, it can be difficult to do it in a way that is interesting, respectful, and exciting. Few places are able to do this the way our Jerome pieces namesake has. We hope that our Jerome pieces remind you that aging is part of life. That disintegration is part of life. And, that with the right outlook; a willingness to embrace time, these processes can be beautiful.

Name: Johnny Golden 0001

Our Johnny clocks get their name from an uncle that I never got the chance to meet. Based on the stories I’ve heard, he lived a life that was wild, inspirational, and generally pretty crazy. Although it’s pretty common for these kinds of stories to be exaggerated, many different witnesses have pretty convincingly corroborated those about my uncle, and a few of the stories have even been documented in newspapers and books. I’m not one to bore people by telling them about my dreams, but basically, I had a dream one night that my uncle wanted me to make a white clock, so I did and named it after him.  The ‘Goldenr’ suffix is much more literal as these pieces feature small gold colored strips of split wood interspersed with the white, and I just thought that ‘Johnny Golden’ sounded kinda cool; like an old west gunfighter or something.

Name: No Name 0001

Inspired by the old greasy and worn bar and table tops of an old western saloon, one of my favorite aesthetics, our No Name clocks get their name (or lack there of) from some of my favorite western cowboy movies. I find a lot of life lessons in these movies. They remind me that life can be good at times, and bad at others. Sometimes is can be downright ugly. Am I overthinking all of this? I reckon so… We hope that our No Name pieces provide you with some mystery and intrigue, and remind you that when life seems unfair, deserve’s got nothin’ to do with it.

Our Evan clocks are inspired by the colors of the planet Jupiter. Like the giant planet itself, we find their planet aesthetic loving namesake to have incredibly strong magnetosphere. He is an endless source of knowledge, entertainment, and inspiration for us. We both enjoy learning new things in general, especially when those new things are techniques that we can use to create something. Few people reach both of us with the same impact that the power carving loving creator and namesake of our Katelyn pieces does. I’ve always enjoyed being a listener, but there’s not many people that I can just stare at and listen to for hours on end like I can with her. We hope that our Katelyn pieces can provide you with the same amusement, awe, and positivity that their namesake does for us.

I attribute it to nostalgia, but there’s something about a silver and black time machine that reminds me of our Marty pieces namesake; a character that I watched nearly every day when I was between three and five years old. As with all of our pieces, we figured if we’re going to build a time machine, why not do it with some style? We hope that our Marty pieces can take you back to a time that fills you with happiness and excitement, and make you optimistic for the future; the same way that their namesake does for us.

Moving in closer, you’ll start to notice the unique texture, and by the time you get about three feet away, you’ll see the natural and raw beauty of the different shades of the split wood. Like our Torrey pieces, their namesake becomes more intriguing the closer you get to him. Get close enough and eventually you see the depth and texture that makes him who he is. Researching the role that beer has played throughout history, its importance is obvious. That’s pretty much the same way I feel about the beer loving namesake of this piece is a family member named Tony. Like beer in human civilization, Tony has played an important role in my development. He’s inspired creations and changes, and helped provide insight I would have otherwise overlooked. He’s lowered my inhibitions and influenced my behavior. Our Tony pieces are meant to reflect and honor these inspirations, insights, and influences. The ‘Irish’ suffix is much more literal as these pieces represent an Irish stout.

Whether you see our Tim pieces as whiskey or anejo, (or scotch, or rum, or plum brandy, or even apple juice…), they are meant to represent whatever brings you joy, knowledge, and a general appreciation for life.

The white wine loving namesake of this piece is a family member named Barb. White wines can be pretty amazing. They can be sweet, and they can be dry. They can be complex, bright, and intellectually satisfying.  These varying attributes are why I decided to name these pieces after Barb.  Like a variety of white wines, Barb has had a major impact on my thoughts, behaviors, and general outlook on life.  Whether you see your favorite sav blanc, chardonnay, zinfandel, or any other golden white wine that you may like in our Barb pieces, they are meant to represent and honor this amazing variety of characteristics and the influence that they have on our lives.

His positive attitude towards nearly all situations, and to life in general, are pretty inspiring. This shou sugi ban wood candle holder piece is carved into a rough spiral cuboid shape, burned to a char, and finished with several layers of a satin protective coating to preserve the charred appearance. This piece has a similar finish to our Chuck clocks and can hold one tea light.

We’ve always loved the desert in general, and, like many others; find great inspiration in the natural beauty and wildlife of the American Southwest. Our Carnegie cactus pieces get their name from the scientific name for the saguaro, Carnegiea gigantea.
